5 FASHION FAUX PAS EVERY MAN SHOULD AVOID

A faux pas is a socially embarrassing action or mistake. When it comes to men fashion, mistakes are plentiful, take a look around you, some men play it off like they don't care about what they wear. For others, these mistakes are as a result of experimentation and evolving their style.
Dressing well isn't difficult, but it does take some effort and part of that effort is understanding convention so that you can pick clothes that are universally appreciated and then wear them correctly. To help you achieve this, we at IKAIDI PREMIUM SHIRTS have put together 5 style mistakes that you should avoid.

1. Buttoning Your Suit Incorrectly
Most men are notorious for buttoning their jacket incorrectly, it’s not their fault, they just don’t wear them regularly enough to recognize their mistake. Fortunately, the rules are simple. One-button, do it up. Two-button, fasten only the top button. Three-button, always fasten the middle button and optionally the top, never the bottom. Double-breasted, fasten all buttons or only the top central button.

2. Ignoring the Dress Code
Dress codes are not a suggestion – they are a requirement. From street wear to black tie, you should always know exactly how you’re expected to be dressed whenever you leave your home. You should never take liberties when it comes to a dress code – especially in your workplace.Avoid severely over or under dressing, if you’re unsure of how to dress for a specific occasion, ask a friend or colleague before you make any assumptions.

3. Buying Outfits Instead of Building a Wardrobe
To illustrate, when Mr X has an event to attend, he would buy a shirt that went perfectly with a specific pair of trousers and buy a tie that matched the two exactly. As a result, Mr X had 5 shirts, 5 pairs of pants, and 5 ties, but still only 5 dress outfits. None of which were capable of contributing to his casual wardrobe. Mr X wasn’t thinking about how each would fit into his wardrobe as a whole or whether he was creating a versatile wardrobe.
Don't be like Mr X, start building your wardrobe with neutral and universally flattering colors, subtle patterns and textures, pieces of similar formality, and items that bridge the gap between casual and dressy.

4. Being Too Matchy - Matchy
Expertly blending patterns, fabrics, and various clothing styles into a cohesive outfit isn’t something that’s learned overnight. Putting some thought into how the components of your outfit complement each other is one thing but that doesn’t mean that your tie, pocket square and socks have to be the exact same color or pattern. Especially if your shirt also happens to share the very same color as your accessories. When blending multiple elements, think in terms of “complementary” colors and patterns rather than exact matching.

5. Mismatched Leathers
If you’re wearing leather you need to be careful to ensure that you don’t mix leathers. This most common mixing mistake that men make is wearing brown leather shoes with black leather belts, or vice versa. Your goal should be for each piece of clothing to complement and work with the others, not to contrast against them heavily. Instead, pick either black or brown and wear exclusively that color of leather at any given time. This rule also extends to leather watches and bracelets, both of which can still be incredibly noticeable, especially if the rest of your outfit is a dark color.

So as you can see, none of most common mistakes men make are insurmountable, they simply require a bit of finesse to correct and revise the course. Do well to apply this knowledge and share with your friends.
