1. Your Lifestyle
This is about having a wardrobe full of items that support you living the life you are currently living.  Not a life you lived in the past, or a life you may live in the future. Think of the activities you engage in, your wardrobe should support you in doing those things — make it easy to dress for them, make you feel appropriate when doing those things, make you feel confident while doing them dressed the way you are, and make it easy to care for those items.

2. Your Personal Style
This is about having a wardrobe full of items that feel like “you”, items that you love to wear, not simply that you can wear. This is one of the major element that boost your confidence when you dress up.

3. Your Body Features
Having some knowledge of your body’s shape and proportion, and of your skin colour is key here.  Once you know these things, you can create a wardrobe that includes only those items that flatter your body’s individuality.

4. Practicality
This is about creating a wardrobe that works within the practical realities of your life including the weather and climate where you live. For example, you will never need snow boots in Nigeria.

5. Your Budget
For every new item in your wardrobe you need to consider: Do I have the funds in cash or savings to pay for this?  Does this feel like a comfortable financial purchase, or am I stretching too much for this?  This will ensure that you buy items that you can afford and that is worth your money.

6. Versatility
Every item should be versatile: should be able to worn in any number of situations, doing any number of activities, that your life have you doing.  There should be very few, if any, single occasion items in your wardrobe. And every item should coordinate with a bare minimum of 3 other existing pieces, if not almost every other item, in your wardrobe.

7. Choose Quality Over Quantity
Quality items will stand the test of time and save you money in the long run. For every new item in your wardrobe, pay attention to the fit, fabric, color and cut. One perfect shirt is better than five imperfect ones.
